Picnic Blanket

This is the picnic blanket with rock pockets from Sew, Mama, Sew. Click here for the tutorial. I made mine from the Heidi Grace collection at Joann's. The instructions say to have cotton backing and a low loft batting, but I just happened to have a whole bunch of brown polyester hanging around, so I used that for the backing, therefore I need no batting. the polyester is thicker and more durable and an overall better backing for the use of this blanket. Plus it adds great to the modernized 70's style of my blanket. This is a great project for beginner quilters. The squares and 16x16", so it's not a ton of piecing together and there aren't a ton of ties either. Overall it was a really easy and fun project!
